Barbara Carley
Office Manager
If you have been showing reining horses in Colorado for any period of time, you have probably seen Barbara Carley's smiling face at a show or two. Besides being an avid reiner, Barbara keeps the office running smoothly at Shockley Farm. She oversees the paperwork, billing, as well as breeding, training, and vet records.
Barbara grew up as a self-described "poor, deprived horse crazy kid," and upon turning 21 remedied that situation by purchasing her first horse. She began her show career exhibiting pleasure horses as an amateur, but it didn't take her long to realize that there was a lot more fun to be had on a reining horse!
In 1991, Barbara began riding with Lance Shockley, and competes in NRHA and AQHA reining competition as a Non Pro, with numerous wins to her credit. She also has several nice broodmares that she crosses on top reining stallions every year.
Barbara's husband Alvin is an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. When not dusty and dirty at the horse shows, the couple like to keep a good thing going by four wheeling on the dirt back roads in the High Country.
